PALMPAPITHECUS

Palmapithecus is one of a kind. My classmates are very talented, dynamic, fantastic, brilliant, active, friendly, and are all out-of-this-world!!! I have to admit that this was so far the best class I've been in. Well, what could you expect, I'm still in my second year at this very prestigious university. Well, this gotta be the wildest, unique, and best class in the whole world. Not that I don't cherish my memories when I was still a Freshman, I just really think that my Sophomore life was a lot more meaningful. Plus, the school year is ending, this has to be the perfect time and place to thank people that have made being a Sophomore a delight and a learning experience.

II-Palma made me a lot more human. They hurt me so I could realize that I also hurt them or somebody else. They helped me, they reminded me that we were not just a class but a family as well. They make me smile and laugh and learn everything that's right and what's wrong. I guess, I had to thank everyone alphabetically so as not to be confused more likely. So to start:

FRIENDS

What is a friend? Does everyone really need one? Why? What do friends do? Is everyone a friend? Do you consider everyone REAL friends? Are all friends fair-weathered? Will they be there for you when you need them? Or will they just go with you because you had everything? How do you find yourself REAL friends? How do you know that the ones you go out with, hang-out with, chat everyday with are the REAL ones? Everything's all covered up and are all unveiled. Do you choose your friends? Let's see.........!

I, honestly, have not much friends. Well, that's just me. But, I'm not an isolated person and I want to hang-out with everyone else. I say, I don't only stick to a group of friends. I agree that everyone really needs a friend. Not just one but many. Remember that no man is an island. They say that a friend is someone who helps you out in times of struggle. Some believed that your greatest friend is your greatest foe. When and where do we really find a friend who never gives up on us, never betrays us, and never grows tired of us? Is there such?

I mean there are many kinds of friends. First one are fair-weathered friends. These are people who befriend you because you're rich, or you have something they also want to have or they want you to share or give to them. This type, is not obvious until you lost all your wealth and possessions. You'll notice that before, when you had fame, money, the honors and awards, they were by your side, sharing your taste of glory. But when your fame starts and will soon fade and when you no longer have money or the honors, you'll find them, not even one, one your side. I had this kind of friends as well.

Next kind is the fallacy kind. These people wants to be your friend because you're someone they adore, idolize and want to be like. They were your friends when you were still star and celebrity. But when they topple you off, you're just good as trash! Whether you like it or not, we all have jealousies and their reasons. Everybody covets anyone else and anyone else is being coveted by anybody else as well.

Third kind is the usury friends. Friends who befriends you because they are using you. Say, they really adore your brother but your brother never notices them, there, they make friends with you just to go closer to your bro. When in fact, they never wanted to be your friend after all. Or maybe you've got friends because you're rich, pretty and famous. These parasite friends of yours are social claimers. They want to be friends with you because they also want to be known for being famous , rich and in for the ride!

But there are also friends that are not in these group. There just ordinary people. When you chat with each other, you're so close and you're having so much fun. But then, tomorrow, you'll hear them spilling your secrets and even backbite you. Some encourages you and supports you. They pretend to like you and loyal to you. But in the end, you just learned that they hate you and are jealous of you. Some even influence you to do the bad stuffs and cool stuffs that are the new crazes. Then, you happen to follow because you believed that your friends are good fellows. Poor you!

I can now see that, a friend is indeed a true friend when you'll be struggling, when you feel like giving up and losing hope and you'll find him always by side, ready to be your shoulder, ready to cry, laugh, smile, and fight with you no matter what! Oh, when will we ever find these good, and heaven-sent pal???

Be A Ninja

Do you know what ninjas are? Are they just girls' dream saviors from harm? Are they only swift as the lightning and calm like the wind? Are they just only remembered because they're skillful, loyal, and brave? A ninja may have been an assassin or spy in Japanese culture, usually trained for stealth. Appearing in fourteenth century feudal Japan, and active from the Kamakura to the Edo Period, their roles may have included sabotage, espionage, scouting, and assasination missions, perhaps in the service of feudal rulers (daimyo or shogun). Since the art of stealth killing leaves no witness, the truth about ninja will likely remain hidden.

A ninja was also known for their fighting style Ninjutsu hara-kiris which is a ritual suicide and which ninjas commit whenever they have failed, dismayed, or whenever their promised honor and loyalty has vanished within. Harakiri refers to cutting or impaling the hara, the center of life energy which is below the navel but above the genitals. ninjas were also known for their long and great endurance. One group had this training wherein they would carry this big, hot, boiling pot full of water within one hour. To think if that if we only accidentally come in contact with hot objects we immediately withdraw ourselves and be more cautious. How much more these ninjas who do these as part of their training? And to think its a big ,heavy boiling pot???!!! Also, a ninja is very loyal and if you have a friend, you know you're always protected and safe! Imagine if your boyfriend is a ninja??!! You'll be love loyally and unconditionally, you'll be protected and remember that ninjas are very sacrificing!!! However, treachery is never in a ninja's vocabulary. Death comes to anyone who dares to try it. I'm wondering if he'll do the same to his lover? Anyway, the ninja I'm trying to tell you is not this typical warrior type. Its about a kind of ninja that is focused and does not easily give in to temptations and most especially seduction! Yes! Don't just think that a ninja is only strong, quick and loyal. They are also have great will of concentration and to resist anything that's tempting (if its a must). Do you get any of these I'm saying? Right you are if you've thought of SAFE SEX! Yes. Everyone should be a ninja and resist seduction. If you can't help it, then I suggest you practice safe sex. Oh yeah, to be safe and away from further more sinful acts, better not have sex at all. That's the best and surest thing before anything can happen! Everyone should be aware of these: premarital sex, and safe sex especially the young people these days. I understand that today, people are lot more different than people before. There happens to be many temptations we could possibly give in to. One example is lust. However, we can't always hide the fact that people can't always hold back and control themselves and naturally, would that sweetest sin in just a daze we won't expect. To prevent abortion, isolation, insults, embarrassment, rejection and regret, we have to know a lot about safe sex. Jessica Alba encourages her fans to practice safe sex. A priest in Montana gave away condoms to anyone who passed near him.

I suppose we are aware of reports of premarital sex, some are in a form of alleged rapes that can really be just called consensual sex. I think all of these will just serve as a friendly reminder because we all know that premarital sex is a sin. So why do it? If you want to have sex, do it when you're already married. Don't just do it with your girlfriend or boyfriend. What if you'll break up and think about it... you're already touched but your lifetime partner is completely whole and untouched. Isn't that unfair? I mean you did it first with someone you will not be with for a lifetime! How about if you just found out that your husband or wife is, will you bear the pain and guilt, and anger inside, or tear the commitment apart?!

Now, we can all see that everyone is affected. So, everyone should be aware of these and let's help each other out. BE A NINJA!

Cristiano Ronaldo

Football is the world's most popular and biggest sport. Aside from those colossal stadiums, grand sponsorships, big sales and luxurious lifestyles, are of course the athletes. We all have our own favorites. My favorite sport is football. My favorite footballer is Cristiano Ronaldo.

Actually, I know you may probably have the feeling of disgust, and we-don't-care stuffs. You may have drawn a grimace on your face right now, but don't worry, this is not just all about this football hunk but its also about his inspiring life that may somehow serve as a good message to the youth.

Here's what his official fanclub cristianoronaldo7.com said:

Cristiano Ronaldo arrived in Manchester amid a media storm. Manchester United had managed to sign the player without the Press suspecting anything. As the Stock Market was told that the player had been signed, hundreds of journalists flooded up to Manchester to get a proper look at one of Manchester United's youngest signings.

Ronaldo was born on the 5th February 1985, on the small island of Madeira, which is owned by the Portuguese. Named after Ronald Reagan, due to his father's respect for the man, few would have gambled that this child would make it to the very top of the Football tree, especially with Madeira mainly being used for farm-land. He has one brother and two sisters, and it is family whom he deems most important in his life at the moment.

It was on the dusty back-streets of this small island that Ronaldo learns his first few tricks, and it was also on this Island that he was first scouted. By the age of twelve, Ronaldo had established himself as the best player on the Island, able to use his ball skills and pace to get past full-grown defenders for Andorinha.

Having been recognized as a serious talent, all that was left was for the big Portuguese clubs to scrap it out for his signature. Though Porto and Boavista came in for him, he could only ever play for Sporting the club he supported as a boy.He progressed slowly through the youth ranks, although all those who worked with him were impressed with the talent that he had for his age, as well as his maturity.

At the tender age of 17, Ronaldo was thrown in at the deep end with his first game against Moreirense. Two goals on his first appearance not only gave him his dream debut, but also endeared him to the fans, who soon learn to chant for the ball to be passed to him. A goal against title-rivals Boavista also saw him rise to the top of the "Fan's Favorites" list.

His skills were watched closely by all of the big clubs in Europe, including Liverpool and Juventus, in the U-17 European Championships. His dazzling skills put England U-17s out, and everyone who watched felt they had seen something special. At the end of his first season at Sporting he was linked to Liverpool. Though he claimed he was extremely happy at Sporting, he was also flattered by the interest of such a big club, who used to do well in the Premier League.

Sporting finished top in the league, and Ronaldo was hailed as the future of the club, alongside Quaresma, another Portuguese Starlet. As it was, both moved away, with the money on the table to much for the Portuguese club to turn down. Best-friend Quaresma ended up at Barcelona, whilst Ronaldo came to the bright red of Manchester.

The deal saw Ronald become the most expensive teenage signing in Britain, with Manchester United paying £12.24million over two seasons, in two equal payments. Those who had not seen him play baulked at the price such a lot of money for someone unproven! Those who had seen the Man Utd vs. Sporting friendly just three days before, however, knew that this player was special. Playing for Sporting, Ronaldo had taken the game to the reds, and was the main reason that Manchester United lost 3-1. After the game, all the United players could talk about was how well Ronaldo had played, and they begged Sir Alex to buy him. Sir Alex had been following him for months, but decided that the time was right not least because other clubs were getting increasingly closer to buying him.

An so, on 12th August 2003, Cristiano Ronaldo held up the famous Red shirt, with his favourite number 7 (it is hero Figo's number) for all the press to see.

A new star had been born.

His first performance for the club was against Bolton. He entered the fray with an hour gone, with United 1 0 up. A standing ovation from the fans at old Trafford did nothing to settle his nerves, but he rewarded the fans for their trust. A man-of-the-match performance followed, and Ronaldo became legend. He had a hand in two of the goals, won an unconverted penalty, and mesmerised the Bolton defence.

The next day the media proclaimed him one of the best players ever for United, comparing him with Red-Legend George Best. Much had been seen, but much is still to come. Ronaldo got better and better as the season went on, eventually leading the Reds to the FA Cup - though somewhat suprisingly, he was not awarded "Man of the Match in that game". It was a disappointing season for United, but no-one was questioning whether Ronaldo was worth the £12million Sir Alex had splashed out on him just eight months previously - everyone could see that Ronaldo was going to be an incredible player.

Ronaldo matured so much during his first year at United that he became a regular in the Portuguese national first team squad. He played a major role in their progress to the final of Euro 2004, where they opposed Greece. In a match that was played on Portuguese soil, Portugal deserved to win the game, but were beaten by a goal scored on the counter-attack by a defensive Greece team.

Ronaldo returned late to Manchester United following international action for the Portuguese Olympic side (Portugal were knocked out in the Quarters), and the Reds were already a good few points behind the leaders Chelsea. Ronaldo put in a number of classy performances, although his strike-rate never really picked up until after he had agreed on a £50 bet with Sir Alex that he would score 10 that season!

As it turned out, Ronaldo was on 9 goals going into the last game of the seaon - the FA Cup Final. United had failed to score in two games against AC Milan in Europe in March, and they had fallen badly behind Chelsea in the league table because of scrappy defeats. Would Ronny be able to get his goal? No! Despite conquerring Arsenal for the full 120 minutes (the game went into Extra-Time), the match went score-lessly into penalties, and United los

With his Summer off Ronaldo visited the tsunami-hit communities of Banda Aceh before heading off on United's Far-East Tour, and signing a new contract that will keep him at the club for many years to come. Ronaldo's third season at the club started on a sad note, with his fathers death deeply affecting his performances and attitude both on and off the pitch. To lose his father so young was hard for Cristiano, but he came through.

His season was further disrupted by a rape allegation by a media-hungry untrustworthy woman (which ended up being dropped). It may have been dropped, but it caused a major furore, and Ronaldo said at the end of the season that he did not enjoy being 'front page news'. Chelsea cruised into an 18 point lead as United stuttered, along with Ronaldo, to find form. It finally came in January 2006, after the team had been knocked out of the Champions League in the group stage - the last match against Porto saw Ronaldo flick his middle fingers up at the rival Portuguese fans and earned him a two-match ban!

United managed to cut Chelsea's lead to just four points but couldn't put the pressure on Chelsea on Good Friday, when they could only draw with Sunderland, giving any kind of title hopes up.

Ronaldo began to hit top form, and was starting to score goals again, just in time for the World Cup in Germany. Books could be written on Cristiano's World Cup (and undoubtedly will). He was the best player on the pitch at times, and won many fans internationally with his attacking play - at a tournament that was characterised by dull and negativefootball and tactics. You could always depend on Ronaldo to run at people and create chances, playing in the true spirit of the game.

Back in England, however, he won few friends as the media tried to portray him as the culprit for England's downfall when Portugal beat them in the Quarter Finals. Rooney had a wild stamp lunge at Ricardo Carvalho's "tomatoes", and Ronaldo ran over to make sure the ref had seen it. This is tantamount to grabbing the red card out of the refs back pocket and sending Rooney off himself according to The Sun, and they fully vilified Ronaldo, even demanding he be deported!

Ronaldo was through to the semis, after scoring the winning penalty against England (talk about having the last laugh), but couldn't conjure up enough to beat a dull French side who won with an exceedingly dodgy penalty early in the game and shut up shop.Ronaldo was then linked with Real Madrid, even saying himself that he wasn't sure England would be safe for him amidst all the chaos.Thankfully, Fergie refused to consider Manchester United without him, and he returned, made friends with Rooney, and is set to light the Premiership up again!

Tired of reading his full biography? Well, here's more, don't worry its much more interesting!!!

Did you know that:

1. He's one of the richest people in Portugal.

2. He doesn't know how to speak FLUENT English.

3. According to survey conducted only for Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo has the most number of votes - " Best Player " , " Most Skillful Player "!!!

4. He provoked his Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney during the World Cup 2006. Portugal won 1-0 due to a penalty. He did the penalty kick after he said that Rooney had fouled him (according to him).

5. He's one of the best young players in the world.

6. He's one of the footballers whom which girls go crazy about.

7. His favorites: number-7, color-white, singer-Robbie Williams, actress-Angelina Jolie, actor-Brad Pitt, meal- cory fish with potatoes.

8. He was arrested of rape. He won the case after he bailed.

9. He's very tricksy! His favorite trick-the step-over! none has done it so extraordinarily than him! Not even Ronaldinho and Ronaldo of Brazil.

10. His father died during a premiership and had to leave suddenly, missing several matches.

11. His Manchester debut was only half an hour and yet he impressed the scouts, the Manchester supporters, his team and of course the world!!!

12. He was offered a transfer fee to Real Madrid or £12 million!!! He refused it 'cause he loved Manchester so much.

13. None of his girlfriends were infamous!

14. He has endorsements with Suzuki (although he drives a silver Porsche), Pepe Jeans, Nike, Extra Joss, and GQ.

15. He has particularly small fingernails!!! Awww!

16. He also plays tennis aside from football.

...and more importantly, he came from a poor family. His father was a farmer. His passion for football began with his ball-a coconut. He came from scratch but now, is a football superstar. You see, poverty should not be an obstacle to our dreams. Like what he did, he never let words bring him down especially that many envy him and would want him to tumble down. But NO! Cristiano's going strong and he quotes that everything he's done is for his family!!!

Youth of Today

I am a youngster. I am part of the youth in the universe. They say that the youngs are hopes for the nation. But do you really think the young people now are concern about this? Are youngsters youth of the nation? Teenagers nowadays are into many things which are not suitable for them. But before the story goes, here's something to reflect upon-P.O.D's song for the youth.....

The last day of the rest of my life
I wish I would've known,
Cause I would've kissed my mama goodbye

I didn't tell her that I loved her and how much I care
Or thank my pops for all the talks,
And all the wisdom he shared

Unaware, I just did what I always do
Everyday, the same routine
Before I skate off to school

Who knew that this day wasn't like the rest
Instead of taking the test,
I took two to the chest

Call me blind, but I didn't see it coming
Everybody was running
But I couldn't hear nothing

Except gun blasts, it happened so fast
I didn't really know this kid
Though I sit by him in class

Maybe this kid was reaching out for love
Or maybe for a moment,
He forgot who he was.
Or maybe this kid just wanted to be hugged
Whatever it was,
I know it's because

Chorus:
We are, we are.... the youth of the nation
We are, we are.... youth of the nation
We are, we are.... the youth of the nation
We are, we are.... youth of the nation

Little Suzy, she was only twelve
She was given the whirl
With every chance to excel

Hang with the boys and hear the stories they tell
She might act kind of proud
But no respect for herself

She finds love in all the wrong places
The same situations
Just with different faces

Changed up her pace since her daddy left her
Too bad he never told her
She deserved much better.

Johnny boy always played the fool
He broke all the rules
So you would think he was cool

He was never really one of the guys
No matter how hard he tried
Often thought of suicide

It's kind of hard when you ain't got no friends
He put his life to an end
They might remember him then

You cross the line and there's no turning back
Told the world how he felt
With the sound of a gat

Chorus

Who's to blame for the lives that tragedies claim
No matter what you say
It don't take away the pain

That I feel inside, I'm tired of all the lies
Don't nobody know why
It's the blind leading the blind

I guess that's the way the story goes
Will it ever make sense
Somebody's got to know

There's got to be more to life than this
There's got to be more to everything
I thought exists

Chorus

Yeah! What has gone to the teenagers today? What had happened to the expectations and hopes of the nation for us young people??? Have we let our elders and mentors down? YEAH! No question! I suppose all of us here are aware and are witness of what's happening to the world right now. The most significant are the very odd and bad metamorphoses of the youth. Can't we wake up to reality and change everything right? I think its never too late for a good change. I know that we can always make things orderly. We can always help each other out.

The issues-young prostitutes, criminals, riots, drug-addicts, rebels, maniacs, and gangsters!!! Whoooaaah! What's wrong with the world? Can't the parents discipline too? Why has the youth left out, forgotten, not attended to, and went bad? Can you just imagine, young boys holding pistols, armors, knives, and other weaponries and they don't even know that its very dangerous! Plus, why can't anyone scold or teach them? Is it just too l late for that?

I mean, what are we here for? What's our purpose here? The police, why can't they teach and discipline people? The parents, why don't they watch out for their kids and not just for themselves? This is so pathetic! I just don't get it. It makes me thing that as parents and guardians, its your obligation to train kids for the better. I thought that if they had done their part, maybe the problem is with us after all....

Teenagers engaging in very scandalous businesses like drugs, gambles, gangsters and fraternities, having too many piercings, and smoking. Young girls being abused, raped, and exploited. Prostitutes, sex workers, cyber sex, premarital sex, and even homosexuals!!! Robbery cases mostly include young robbers and thiefs. Rugby boys, bloody pacts, roits, rebellious acts, running away, dropping out from school and bad influence from friends!!!

The youth has been wasted and doomed! What will ever happen to our future?! Will there be still good representatives, models, and idols?! Do we really want to look cool, new but scary and weird?! Are we maniacs? People born of lame lives? People who didn't experience love, care and attention ? People who had a teary and bad past? Everything matters from our parents, the way they raise us, treat us, train us, to the way we discipline us, take care of ourselves, and towards the people you meet and talk everyday. Everything is a chain and the effects are really grave.

When you become a mother someday, would you want to see your daughter dancing in a night bar? Would you allow that your son got shot because he was part of this gangster? We don't know if we would become parents someday but we don't know the possibility so to be safe and to be not sorry and feel regretful, do something good today that will make a big difference in this world especially to the youth.

By now, you should be asking yourselves. Have you contributed a lot for the betterment of this world? Or have you contributed to the problems and destructions in our very existence? To the parents, have you raised, treated, and trained your kids with unconditional love and respect? To the youth, have we let down the hopes, dreams and supports of our nations? Have we done something good at all? What are we doing youngsters? Are we just wasting everything that was poured on us?

A Summary of Max Schulman's "Love is a Fallacy"

I was very cool and logical. Very precocious at my age. I cover a huge area of expertise, my calculations are precise, and I'm only eighteen. It is not a custom that someone so young can possess such genuineness. Say, for example, my roommate at the university, Petey Bellows. Same age, same background, but dumb as an ok. A nice enough fellow, you understand, but nothing upstairs. Emotional type. Unstable. Impressionable. Worst of all, a faddist. As for me, fads are futile. To submit yourself to everything that's hype, what's on style and what's in and cool or because everyone else is doing it, is the acme of mindlessness. not however to my roommate, Petey.

One afternoon, I found Petey lying on his bed with an expression of such distress on his face that I immediately diagnosed appendicitis. I told him not to move. Don't take a laxative, I said. I told him that I'll get a doctor. He uttered a with a rather monotonous voice, " raccoon ", he said. I asked, " a raccoon ". He told me he wanted a raccoon coat. I asked why would he want a dumpy old style-raccoon coat. "I should have known it," he cried, pounding his temples. "I should have known they'd come back when the Charleston came back. Like a fool I spent all my money for textbooks, and now I can't get a raccoon coat." Disgusted, I asked him, " you mean that people are actually wearing these weighty coats again? "All the Big Men on Campus are wearing them. Where've you been?". " Don't you want to be in? " I said, " no".

He said that he wants to be in the swim and that he had to get a raccoon coat. He declared that he'll do anything for a raccoon coat. " Anything ", he would repeat thickly. Being precocious that I am, i wanted to dig it in. I just know particularly where I would get Petey's raccoon coat. My father had had one in his undergraduate days; it lay now in a trunk in the attic back home. It also happened that Petey had something I wanted. I refer to his girl, Polly Espy. I have long coveted Polly. She was, to be sure, a girl who excited the emotions, but I was not one to let my heart rule my head. I was well aware of the importance of the right kind of wife in furthering a lawyer's career. The successful lawyers I had observed were, almost without exception, married to beautiful, gracious, intelligent women. With one omission, Polly fitted these specifications perfectly.

Beautiful she was. She was not yet of pin-up proportions, but I felt sure that time would supply the lack. She already had the makings. Gracious she was. By gracious I mean full of graces. She had an ease of bearing, a poise that clearly indicated the best of breeding. At table her manners were exquisite. Intelligent she was not. In fact, she veered in the opposite direction. But I believed that under my guidance she would smarten up. At any rate, it was worth a try. It is, after all, easier to make a beautiful dumb girl smart than to make an ugly smart girl beautiful.

I asked Petey if there's love between him and Polly. He said that they're not steady and both of them had other dates. So, I said, " Can I have Polly in exchange for your raccoon coat? ". At first, Petey was having dilemmas. He was looking deeply at the raccoon coat and at the same time thinking if it's the right thing to give Polly away in exchange for a faddist's crave. Finally, at a long blow, he said that both of them are nothing important to each other. He agreed to have the coat and give his girl to me. We had a deal then. The following evening I had my first date with Polly. I had to make her pass my standards. This was in a nature of a survey. I mean I can't just pick a girl that's so low or below my level or the level I wanted.

I took her first to dinner. "Gee, that was a delish dinner," she said as we left the restaurant. Then I took her to a movie. "Gee, that was a marvy movie," she said as we left the theater. And then I took her home. "Gee, I had a sensaysh time," she said as she bade me goodnight. Back to the room I was so heavily hearted. I knew that I had to so so much work to fill what this girl lacks. I went about it, as in all things, systematically. I gave her a course in logic. It happened that I, as a law student, was taking a course in logic myself, so I had all the facts at my fingertips. "Polly," I said to her when I picked her up on our next date, "tonight we are going over to the Knoll and talk." "Oo, terrif," she replied. One thing I will say for this girl: You would go far to find another so agreeable. We went to the Knoll, the campus trysting place. I told her that we're going to talk about Logic.

"Logic," I said, clearing my throat, "is the science of thinking. Before we can think correctly, we must first learn to recognize the common fallacies of logic. These we will take up tonight." After a tireless and long discussion of logical fallacies like Dicto Simpliciter, Hasty Generalization, Post Hoc, Contradictory Premises, Ad Misericordiam, False Analogy, Hypothesis Contrary to Fact, Poisoning the Well for five grueling but worthy nights, I thought I had made a logician out of Polly. I had taught her to think. My job was done. She was worthy of me at last. She was a fit wife for me, a proper hostess for my many mansions, a suitable mother for my well-heeled children. Finally on our next date, I said to myself that this is the perfect time to make love from academic to romantic.

"My dear," I said, favoring her with a smile, "we have now spent five evenings together. We have gotten along splendidly. It is clear that we are well matched." "Hasty Generalization," said Polly brightly. "I beg your pardon," said I. "Hasty Generalization," she repeated. "How can you say that we are well matched on the basis of only five dates?" I chuckled with amusement. The dear child had learned her lessons well. "My dear," I said, patting her head in a tolerant manner, "five dates is plenty. I decided to change tactics. Obviously the best approach was a simple, strong, direct declaration of love. I paused for a moment while my massive brain chose the proper words. Then I began:

Polly, I love you. You are the whole world to me, and the moon and the stars and the constellations of outer space. Please, my darling, say that you will go steady with me, for if you will not, life will be meaningless. I will languish. I will refuse my meals. I will wander the face of the earth, a shambling, hollow-eyed hulk." There, I thought, folding my arms, that ought to do it. "Ad Misericordiam," said Polly. After sometime of being so romantic to her, the date went like a debate. I thought that my words went back to me. Plus, I've never experienced being speechless in such unrecorded debate. That did it. I leaped to my feet, bellowing like a bull. "Will you or will you not go steady with me?" "I will not," she replied. "Why not?" I demanded."Because this afternoon I promised Petey Bellows that I would go steady with him."

I reeled back, overcome with the infamy of it. After he promised, after he made a deal, after he shook my hand! "That rat!" I shrieked, kicking up great chunks of turf. "You can't go with him, Polly. He's a liar. He's a cheat. He's a rat." "Poisoning the Well," said Polly, "and stop shouting. I think shouting must be a fallacy too." With an immense effort of will, I modulated my voice. "All right," I said. "You're a logician. Let's look at this thing logically. How could you choose Petey Bellows over me? Look at me—a brilliant student, a tremendous intellectual, a man with an assured future. Look at Petey—a knot-head, a jitterbug, a guy who'll never know where his next meal is coming from. Can you give me one logical reason why you should go steady with Petey Bellows?"

"I certainly can," declared Polly. "He's got a racoon coat."

Love is a Fallacy

Obviously, I've read Max Schulman's superb work. Love is indeed a fallacy - NOT(rarely). First, they said that to love wholeheartedly is a a key to a successful marriage life. Therefore, love wholeheartedly and marry that person you loved so much. Absolutely a Dicto Simpliciter! Many couples, especially celebrities did not love wholeheartedly and married that same person but were so damn successful than some of those who loved wholeheartedly. Sometimes, we should use our brains than to our hearts. I mean many couples broke up because they're poor. When you're poor, there's always a tendency to borrow money or loan. Also, there's always that possibility that those people get tempted to engage in useless and wasteful businesses.

Secondly, most say that marriage counts for another success. So, everyone should get married so as to have more successes or to be successful in life. No, no... a hasty generalization that is. The coverage of arguments are very narrow. How about those people who came from well-to-do families, they wed, and instead of progressing, they became poorer than their families. How can marriage be a success when it accounted for poverty? Plus, there are many people there far way to successful than those who were married. Therefore, we should say that marriage counts for another success for some. It really depends.

Next off people used to believe in love signs. Like when you hope to see three yellow butterflies playing together, you'll be so lucky with love. Another is, when you're set to test if the person will truly be yours, you say, " I should see five red Ferrari cars tomorrow ". When you see not even a single red car, you immediately suppress your feelings. Post Hoc, baby! You should not depend or base on the signs you opted to see to satisfy you. The signs have no accurate connections. But not all signs are of no relevance. Say for example, you get to see this really cute footballer in one o your friend's party. You noticed him looking playfully at you. Then, one minute before you could really imagine - he asks one of your friends about you. Then, you should know, eventually. Now, baby, that's a a lucid sign that he maybe attracted to you.

Fourth, the saying goes " Love conquers all ". Or shall we just say that " Love is powerful ". If love is indeed, then why would couples break up because of financial problems or family? Now, if they were broken, can love bring them back if it were indeed powerful? Love's powerful - but not in all aspects! Contradictory Premises! If love is powerful, can it block all problems and test that may result to a break-up? Yes, and its powerful, so it can break them again.Yes. But you said love's powerful? We say that love is powerful in most times but may be powerful in repelling itself too.

In the Schulman's masterpiece ( I consider it as one ), how could let's say Schulman himself wanted Polly in exchange for a ragoon coat, said he coveted Polly, would want to love Polly, but why would he change her? Can't he love her for what she is? Of course change is always good but not to the extent that you intentionally wnat the person to change so as to satisfy thy standards! That's not love! That's somewhat like poisoning the well! He's just caught himself with his own deeds and teachings! He's the one who need some logic!
